today i did FENCING!

this is in fact ultimately cool. i was planning on holding out for sword fighting but to do that i need to go and talk to a man in a pub in camden - which appeals to me, there is a very D&D quest element to such a mission - but i never have the time and it's a far enough journey to be quite out of my way.

i thought fencing was a crappy version of swordfighting. i mean, it's all about etiquette and style over substance [i.e. SLAYING YOUR ENEMIES IN BATTLE]. how amazingly wrong i was!

first we did an hour of warm-up exercise which was great as that is what i really needed. it hurt me so much i saw stars, but that is what i need. i'm just really unfit, it's not like it's insane training or anything. then i learnt the moves but without a foil. i had some one-on-one with the instructor then everyone else got to do matches. and man...

it was HOTT!! swords are amazingly sexy!

i mean i knew this in theory and in swords and sorcery films...but i thought maybe the glamour would be lost when watching lots of spotty teenage boys thrust foils badly at one another. NO! i'm still totally sold on the idea.

i will beat them all! i will train like Rocky until i am the ultimate street fighter!! i mean fencing champion. YES!
