Update on this evenings news:

I got home from work at 5.30 to find my front door wide open and my apartment pretty much trashed. The thieves who broke in even attempted to knock down the dividing wall between my bedroom and the landing to get in. In a way, I'm thankful they got the door open before they broke through the wall.

They only took small stuff, my cameras, all three of them, my Gameboy, my MP3 player, minidisc and about a dozen DVD's. Then they took my best rucksack to put all my stuff in to make their getaway without looking too obvious.

All the stuff they knicked was in plain sight but they still trashed my flat, pulled everything out of the drawers and threw it all over the floor. This is what pisses me off the most. That and I had to spend 126 of the money I was saving to take a holiday to get an emergency locksmith to come and fix the door.

It took three calls to the police station to get an officer out to me. I was waiting for four hours for them to show up. mad

A big thank you to Rainwolfkin and Suicidedoggie who came straight round, having cancelled their plans for the evening to keep me company and help me clear up.

Now I have to take a day off work tomorrow to wait for the fingerprint officer to show up and then file an insurance claim, the money from which will go back into my holiday fund, if it actually turns up on time.

Words can not be found to express how pissed I am right now. I have a pretty thick skin and can take these things in my stride. I can only imagine how this must feel for someone of a more nervous or sensitive disposition to me especially if like me they are a woman living on their own.

According to the lady upstairs she came home at 4pm and everything was fine. So my flat was burgled at some point betwee then and when I got home at 5.30pm. There's a chance I only just missed them, another thing to be thankful for. Someone capable of kicking down my door and my wall is not someone I wish to confront alone.

Of course. It was just a vague "I'm going out..do you wanna come" kind of things.

Are you up for Saturday's fun and games?

Poor dear, I can't imagine how furious you must be. It's not the missing stuff it's the violation. I'll tell you my theft story in hopes of adding a little levity:

The only thing I've ever had stolen was some expensive brakes off of one of my racing bikes back in college. A friend at a party told me who it was... and much to my surprise the creep was riding his bike around campus with MY brakes on it. The nerve! I used my BMX experience to ride up beside him one day on the way to class and pushed him off his bike and face first into a brick wall at about 25 mph. I was told later he lost a tooth. About a hundred other students saw me do this and I just smiled and rode off. I didn't even want the brakes back. Needless to say no one messed with me during the rest of my tenure at the university.

I hope Karma comes back around to bite your thieves in the ass (or teeth) too. biggrin
