at the grocery store last week the checker asked me if he gave me a free turkey would i eat it. i said no, that every year i donate any i get. so he went in the back and came out with a 25lb bird. it was HUGE-i could barely carry it!
i drove it over to the gospel mission yesterday and as i drove away i wondered why this was all i did all year long to contribute to charity. because it always feels good knowing i'm helping in some way. and i realized that i no matter how depressed or pissy i get sometimes, i actually have alot in my life. family, friends, my dog, a home, car, and money enough to live how i want to.
and i think about how, with the sadness there is joy, with the crazy there is calm, and with the heartbreak there is love. you can't appreciate all that is good without having to wade through the crap, so in some strange way i'm thankful for it all.

my hair is long enough now that last night i was pulling it up to look just like heatmiser!! for a moment, i even thought about dying it orange - then i thought better of it.
