Thankfully, days only have 24 hours and the shit eventually lets up.

Maybe the kids have it best. They don't care about what happened 5 minutes ago, it's past history to them. We can't seem to skip over crap that quickly in our adulthood somehow. It's silly really because what is the worst that could happen? It's like the transition from childhood to adulthood strips us of the hability to relativize negative influences on our lives.
