Well, in order to save on gas, ease the hinderance of the more and more frequent automotive hiccups I've been experiencing with my car, and get my ass back into shape I've gone to my local bike shop and procured a bicycle for my local commuting needs. Nothing too fancy, just an entry level Boulder by Giant. It's better than a department store special and ought to hold up well out here in the desert and I doubt I'll be doing anything "extreme" with it so I'm quite pleased with my new purchase.
I did, however, discover that I was in much better shape back in K-12 because the ride home from the shop was nothing like I remembered from back in the day. It was a painful 5 miles home riding into a stiff headwind for the greater part of the journey. I have no doubts I shall get back into shape in no time with regular use of this mechanical monstrousity.
And, without further ado... my bike:
Pictures of me actually riding it to follow in the near future.
