longpastbedtime:
Why does it bother you so much that a lot of punk is power chords? I don't think music has to be technically brilliant to be good. Early punk is notorious for its simplicity, but sometimes that simplicity is a great thing. And don't forget the importance of vocals and especially lyrics in music. Bad Religion is one of my favorites, not because their music is anything phenomenal or Greg Graffin's voice is on loan from an angel, but because their lyrics are blistering.

On another note, I found you from your post in the Taste of Chaos news thread. This may be rather random, but I'd like to dredge up a crew of miscreants to go to either the Chicago show or the Champaign/Peoria show roughly a week later, and maybe we could work something out.

What's wrong with power chords?! Nothing I say! Give me a noisy, distorted, ugly, sounding guitar and bass playing 2 or 3 power chords, extremely fast tempos, 30-40 second songs, with shitty recording. I will take that any day over so called talent and originality. love
