Did you post something similiar before? It doesn't really matter, it just sounds like I read something very similiar to that before. Anyway, I can't stand small talk, I see no point to discussing meaningless topics.
At christmas I have observed my dad making meaningless conversation just so he has a reason to talk to his brothers. He knows a few details about the kind of things they are in to and he will start to talking about those things like he knows something about them. To me, he comes off sounding like an idiot because I know that he could careless about the subject. But he continues the conversation anyway. Since he has no real knowledge on the subject the conversations ends quickly and he will go to the next brother discussing another subject he knows nothing about. I just sit there trying to understand why that meaningless conversation needed to happen and since I find no answer I just stay quiet.
I have lost girlfriends for this reason and I really can't change it. I just don't see a need to discuss the weather or whatever. Maybe if I was a meteorologist I would talk about the weather, but otherwise what does this accomplish?
I don't have a problem talking about intelligent subjects, but when you make intellectual observation you are looked at like you are crazy for bringing up a subject that requires thought. I guess average people see my intellectual thought the same way I see their "small talk".
