The Man U game was great. I was watching it in a mixed pub and there was an English guy next to me - a neutral just hoping to see a good game - who said "he's going to miss this" just before the penalty. I was praying he hadn't jinxed it! I say "neutral" but the look on his face both when Celtic scored and when the penalty was saved told a different story!
That Neil Lennon thing was funny. As was the thing in the spoiler.
I have been bartending off and on for about 3 and a half years
I learned on the job, but a little first hand experience with drinking helped me out most bartenders I know learned the same way..I have only met a few people who went to school for it
JWU is a very big school with several branches around the country (maybe world by this point). It started here and the main campus takes up a big chunk of downtown Providence. It started as a culinary institute but they've branched out into management science and a few other things - I know someone who got an MBA there.
The culinary institute has an excellent reputation - Emeril and more than a few famous chefs went there - but I'm not sure that it would be wise for a future pub owner to go there. From what I know they do high-end 5-star type stuff, and it's pretty expensive. The students seem pretty cool and you'd probably have a good time, but I think it would be like a future EMT going to med school if you know what I mean. No disrespect to pub owners, they've certainly enriched my life, but it's a different beast than executive chefs. I could be wrong though and it's defintiely worth spending some time poking around their website.
I totally agree with what Annisa said. You don't really know if you want to get into that business or if you can do it successfully until you've spent time behind a bar.
