Hey babes! Sooo firstly, please wish my luck on my immunology bioformatics midterm today!! This midterm is for a course on how to take DNA, RNA, and protein sequences (and sometimes structures) coming from different organisms and learn how to identify what organism it's from, use it to compare with other sequences, look at conserved features of the sequence between related organisms, etc. There is a lot you can do with a sequence that looks like a mess of letters (ie. ATTCGCTAGCGTAGTAUG) on a computer! Currently I'm learning to use programs like BLAST, EMBOSS, etc. It's really difficult! I knew this course would be a challenge, as I'm not much of a tech geek haha. I'm more into weird genetic and infectious viral diseases! However, my lab wants to do something called RNA sequencing (which costs thousands of dollars), so we need someone who can read the data! Thus, I decided to learn how to analyze and manipulate sequence data.
With all that being said, if I vanish from time to time, I promise that it's not because I've lost interest in SuicideGirls or making content for you! I just wanted to remind everyone that sometimes it takes me a bit to reply to messages, and & I may not post frequently because I'm finishing my undergraduate B.Sc. Biological Sciences specializing in immunology and infection!
Additionally, I'm thinking of making a series of videos called "Lectures in Lingerie" where I give short lectures on immunology topics, so that I can teach you a bit about what I love & why I love it! It would benefit me academically, because you truly know you understand something when you can explain it to others. And if it bores you, well, I will be in lingerie, so... <3 If you have anything you'd like to know about related to the immune system or any infectious diseases, or even cell biology, please let me know! My expertise lies mostly in viruses (ie. HIV, Dengue, West Nile), but I'd love to expand on my own knowledge so I cna teach you too!
