you're right, sedaris is much better read aloud. it's funny you mention that because last night i read "a plague of tics" aloud to my neighbor benjamin (dunno if you read that one, but it was the story where he talks about all his OCD-related neuroses). he got a kick out of being read to, and i liked practicing reading aloud and doing the different voices and stuff.
i have to practice reading aloud because a) i want to work on my diction for teaching and b) i have been known to perform my stuff once in a while so it's always good to listen to myself from time to time.
when i saw neil gaiman read i became acutely aware of how much i need to improve. he is the BEST at reading aloud - perfect pace and timing!
Thanks a million for offering to hook me with texteses. I will send you my booklists next quarter.
Are you still teaching online?
The Nug DOES call. If only I had some time NOT spent working, procrastinating on working or being in class.
You didn't contribute a saying. What's up with that?
