That's how it's been going lately from what I've read. Didn't happen to me, but in Michigan you simply choose a Republican or Democrat ballot. Is there anything you can do to get it sorted? If you can't, are you still going to vote?
@drawingformusic yeah i registered democrat and then got a letter in the mail saying my registration went through and I'm registered republican and can vote republican in the primaries. @soopknertzi I'm going to try really hard but its past the deadline. Im definitely with the "anyone-but-trump"ers so I suppose if it doesn't get fixed I will vote for SOMEONE. Probably Kasich (if thats even how you spell it) because I'm not voting for the zodiac killer.
The primary is in a few weeks, but in new york you can only vote within your party. @drawingfromusic and @soopknertzi You are not going to convince me that he isn't the zodiac killer.
Did you contact the board of elections and tell them there's an error? Is it too late to register now, because you might be able to do a change of party? Election laws are different in different states and I've heard New York's are pretty byzantine. Though the Zodiac killer got started in the 1960s and Cruz was born in 1970... he is kind of snaky, isn't he?
@ericwine Yeah I contacted them. The deadline was March 25th and I didnt get the letter until after that. They told me that I have to call the local party headquarters the day of the elections, and then they will tell me where I can go to court, and then I have to go to court and make an appeal and then Judge will decide if I can go vote in the democratic primaries. So really its going to be like a huge long difficult process, which will 100% come down to the party affiliation of the Judge, all so that I can vote for a candidate who is 100% going to lose. Yeah America.
That is the biggest chunk of bullshit I've ever heard! And no one thought Bernie was a threat when he started...now there's voter fraud happening everywhere. Bush v Gore ain't got nothing on this election so far!
Since the NY primary is today (I think - or is it next week?) I decided to check back to see if there was anything new on this. Apparently a lot of people in NY who were already registered are finding their party has changed (usually to independent). Make sure you ask about provisional ballots and ask if they can print out your original registration form - apparently they're keeping electronic copies of everything now. There's definitely a rottenness in the state of New York (with apologies to Shakespeare).
There have been some people I know not able to find themselves in the registration sheets when voting their party primary. They were given paper ballots to mail in (what a joke.) The system has been messed up for a really long time. It is probably this way by design.
