so, basically my biggest stress in life right now is paying back my student loans.
i.simply.can.not.afford.the.payments.
i've been trying to get my mom to help me consolidate (need a co-signer) and it's been taking forever. the loan was almost all set through nextstudent.com, then they just suddenly stopped funding consolidation loans. WTF?! so the issue got put on the back burner for a while, and i've been deferring my biggest loan for pretty much ever since it went into repayment. i think i've paid one month, which is $450. that's two years worth of forbearances. fack. so the other day i started flipping out and texted my mom asking her if we could sit down and get this consolidation bullshit out of the way once and for all. she said sure, let's talk about it this weekend when you come up. so earlier today, she brought it up when we were having breakfast/coffee. she told me that she was thinking about re-financing her mortgage and seeing if she could get extra money to pay off the student loans for my brother, step-brother, and me.
i nearly fainted. even still can't fathom it. not having student loan debt? in the words of chris griffin... WHAAAAAT?!
here's to hoping she goes through with it and can get enough money to help me out completely... that would be the most amazing thing in the whole entire world for me!!

Same here. Sallie Mae isn't doing consolidation loans either. Student loan debt *sucks*. Asshats on Wall Street and giant corporate assholes who created this economic mess are getting govn't welfare handouts, but I can't even *refinance* my student loans into something more manageable to take advantage of these historic low interest rates. Fuckerz.
