Christmas shopping is *done*! (Is anyone else a fan of Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead? There's a part where the younger brother "takes care of the dishes" by launching them off the roof and shooting them. He then proclaims "The dishes are done!" We use some version of this line on a weekly basis at our house.) In random excitement, the fire department rang my buzzer at 3AM this morning. I rushed down in a confused, frightened panic - only to realize that they just needed someone to open the security door so they could rescue someone stuck in an elevator. Which is a shitty deal, but hardly worth the near heart attack I experienced.

Can I also share a pet peeve of mine with you? People from the coasts. All of you. Well, not ALL of you. But most of you. Especially the ones who like to rag on the "fly over states." The other day I was talking with a New Yorker who went on and on about how much people in the middle of the country are stupid. He even said things that don't make sense. (Apparently, I'm a typical Midwesterner since I don't like camping. Which doesn't seem to jive with the common stereotype of the hunting, fishing good old boy with a boat. But whatever.) Anyway, I just find the whole thing tasteless. It would be like me talking about how LA is all immigrants, New York is all loud Italian guys, and San Fransisco is composed entirely of gay hippies. These are clearly stupid assumptions. Why are stupid assumptions about the Midwest just *allowed*? All this confirms to me is that people from the coasts are the most close minded people around - and their hypocrisy at mocking "insular" middle America only makes my head spin.
