So I had my first earthquake this morning at 10:20am...5 on the Richter, most powerful quake to hit Israel since it's been a state.
I'm sitting in my chair reading 'The Fellowship of The Ring' when lo and behold I feel my chair starting to kick in various directions.
My first thought is 'how did a dog get under there?'
My second thought is 'Wait, there can't be a dog...so this is an earthquake...?'
I look around me room (as I continue to be bumped into different positions) and I seem to be the only thing moving (well me and the chair). I start up (in a bit of fear by this point) and do what I always promised myself I'd do if I was ever in a quake - I touch the window. It's shaking.
I walk out of my room and into the kitchen to ask my bitchy roomate if she felt anything. She didn't. Ok, maybe I'm crazy.
No wait, here comes my crazy roomate. She experienced the same thing as me. Fine. Earthquake.
Ignore the fact that this is the first time I've ever been in a quake. Fine. Earthquake. Stay calm. Call someone.
Phone lines are dead. They stay that way for an hour.
Internet goes down. Streets are spookily quiet.
I go downstairs and ask the guys at the minimarket if they felt it. Yup. Earthquake. They can't make calls either.
I go back to my room and wait for the internet to come back on so that I can Blog my first Earthquake.
