Bllllleeeehhhhhhh
For whatever reason my friend Reber and I can't seem to hold on to weekly. We just got one at a bar on 6th street only to be in a state of dj limbo because the manager quit. Dealing with new management is a pain in the ass.
On the positive end of the Spectrum I have a Sunday night gig at Barbarella which is like a block from 6th street and 2 blocks from my new apt I have a gig playing smoooooooooooooth rock. It's kinda what I imagine heaven to be like. Tonight was insane, it was like bizzaro world, dudes dancing on the dance floor singing along to Elo's Livin' Thing pointing at hollering and acting like drunk bitches... While the drunk bitches were at the bar eyeing the men like horny douche bags. Eventually I hit the sweet spot where everyone was dancing and it was amazing. People singing and dancing. Kinda more exciting than last week when I played the Will To Power song that is a mashup of Baby I Love Your Ways and Freebird and one drunk guy was totes feeling it to the point where he was drunkenly rocking out.
The other thing I love about Smooth Rock Sunday is the lack of Lady Gaga requests I get. The night has so much potential just need to figure out how to get the word about it. Problem is I'm up against one of the most popular Dubstep nights in the world and a very popular 80's night just down the street. I've never really seen the point in specialized nights.. Like electro wednesday or rock n roll thursday just cause I like to play a variety of music... They told me smooth rock but I'm not constricted by a decade or a specific genre. I can go from 80's pop to 60's r&b which I think sounds more exciting than the usual list of songs you're going to hear at an 80's night or dubstep, which has never not sounded like I'm being scolded by parents in a Charlie Brown television special.
Fuck dubstep btw.
And yes, I pretty much only talk about djing and music in real life.. I'm a boring person.
