X a million for you. So here's what's going on with me....as you know, I am a research and development chemist for a hair dye and bleach company. There are several departments: R&D, quality control, production, raw materials, shipping n receiving, sales, accounting, etc. you get the idea. well, to make a long story short, which I never can, the quality control dept supervisor is out for a month. his back up guy got himself fired. I was asked to supervise this department. I have no managerial skills, am pretty shy, and have little experience in that dept. It is the most important department and we CANNOT make ANY mistakes!!!!!
ok, at first I was crying and pretty upset about this. Now I feel confident and I am running the place better than ever. I am managing 7 people, doing the supervisor's job, the fired assistant supervisor's job, and my own. that's three, count em, three full time jobs with huge responsibility. I am supervising formulas, correcting chemistry, and managing all the important shipments that keep us functioning. I have clearly underestimated myself. I am making changes and solving a lot of bugs in that department that will make life easier and the ladies couldn't be happier.
I have been supervising for three weeks and have two more to go. I am fucking EXHAUSTED!!!! This is me ready for bed:
yes, I am wearing tinkerbell pjs, elmo slippers and a fedora. I have been going to bed so early lately. not like me at all! this whole supervisor thing is ok for the novelty of the moment, but I could never, ever deal with this as a career. shy nerds belong in their private labs making science their slaves.
Today was the coolest day. I have been collaborating the research on this awesome project for a few months:
This is my research book. I can't show you the research, but I can show you the final colors. I did black out all of the information on purpose. Making those bright colors was awesome as hell. the thing that was cool is that the whole project has been conducted through snail mail, phone calls and email, and today I got to meet one of the guys from the other company. according to the person who represents me and my research, the meeting went "phenomenal." YESSSSSS!!!!!! The project is already purchased and going into production. this is not just my invention this time. it's a research collaboration and am very proud that I have taken part in making it successful. woo hoo!
all this coming up with such good timing. I am at my year review and asked during my review for a raise. the director of science and technology said I will be recommended for one, so wish me luck cause I sure do need it. *crosses fingers*
hope your weekend is wonderful. I do love all my sg friends dearly, old and new.
