Too true.
I honestly wish someone would take action so that The Dalai Lama can go and bury his master in the buddhist tradition without fear for his life.
the saddest thing is that china will not back down on tibet. never ever. neither the chinese government nor the majority of the chinese people have any sympathy or understanding for the people of tibet.
It is a very sad situation for the people of Tibet - no one wants to be China's enemy today. The indigenous people will be replaced by Chinese numbers soon. The proximity of the Olympics may actually soften China's response but the trouble is - what do you follow up with? The Olympics will end and China has not shown reticence being brutal. Because no one wants to be China's enemy - no force will stop them from doing what they will. It will be a loss as big as the destruction of the Libraries of Alexandria to human thought if Tibet is no longer Tibet. People do care - but what will they risk ? It is definitely something to discuss. - C
Yeah thanks for posting Satya.
It's a good time for us in 'the free world' to post blogs on Tibet and get the word out since Tibetans (and Chinese) are prevented from doing so.
The media's watching, the Chinese authorities are getting agitated, the Olympics are coming up.
Best chance for pressure on the Tibet issue for quite some time, the monks know it and they're risking life and limb to stand up for it.
I'll add this site to partner-in-the-cause HKrinkle's list for thise reading; www.freetibet.org.
Did you see the latest this morning? As a sportswriter who will have to cover the Olympics, I'm hoping this will spur some changes... but I'm a pessimist.
BTW: Love your taste in music. Cherubs, Pain Teens. Super.
Awesome post Satya. The world is full of stupidity it seems. So sad that is going on in Tibet. When will people ever learn, we're all passengers on this boat we call earth. Get along already!
Congrats ma'am. Very lovely set! I love your um...dominating style of clothing! Awesome!
Take care.
Yet the world continue to act as if China is a well-behaved member of the international community (not that the U.S. is, either.) These monks are calling to our collective conscience.
