My new record, called Lies, Lies, Lies!, with Afflicted By Design is finally complete! It features the songs "Automatic Static" and "Warm and Pretty Lies" plus a remix of each song. Work on the record started in September 2015 and finished up today, on Christmas Day, when the cover artwork was completed. The record originally had 3 songs, plus 2 remixes, but now only has 2, with the 2 remixes; so what the hell? Why'd it take so long? Here's the short of it. My producer's band got signed to a record deal during the production and he had to take off whole bunch to sort out the legal bullshit, do some promotional concerts and schmooze a bit.
Thematically, Lies, Lies, Lies! is a record about lies. "Automatic Static" was written in response to all the lies politicians were telling during the 2016 U.S. Presidential election. Everyone running for president in the Republican party could not tell the truth. It was, and still is, all. lies That's when I coined the phrase automatic static and came up with the idea for the sone. "Warm and Pretty Lies" is all about the lies we tell each other in relationships. The little white lies we when we are starting a brand new relationship; the ones we say to make each other feel better.
For Lies, Lies, Lies! I decided to take a break from producing and I enlisted Kfir Gov, of the Tech-n-Roll band Seek Irony to produce. On the record I handle lead vocals, rhythm guitars, bass, synths and drum programming and for the rest, Fred Fata, an old friend and former bandmate in Otto's Daughter is on lead guitar and guitars synth, Rom Gov, Kfir's bother and bandmate in Seek Irony is on drums, and Rona Rougeheart of Sine and Dead Love Club is on co-lead vocals on "Warm and Pretty Lies." The remix of "Automatic Static" was done by Sebastian's former bandmate, Jacqueline van Bierk, who also appeared on "This Is Not A Love Song," and the remix of "Warm and Pretty Lies" was done by Lenny Gonzalez of A Chango Feo Abstraction.
The record comes out on January 6, 2017 on all major download and streaming services.
