2. I'm by no means an expert, but I do have a few abnormal anatomy texbooks with chapters on hermaphrodites. I don't believe one can have sex with oneself - the penis is usually way too short, but I guess it's theoretically possible. The size and proportion of hermaphroditic genitalia can vary greatly, but in the pics I've seen, it usually looks like a enlarged vagina, with a protruding but stumpy clitoris, which is actually a penis. The testicles in hermaphrodites don't usually drop, but remain inside, although I've seen some examples where there were really small, non-functioning testicles inside what looked like a gigantic outer labia. 3. Yes, many animals are homosexual! There was actually a museum exhibition a couple years ago about this. Apparently more than 1500 species exhibit homosexual behavior, and it's been well-documented in at least 500 of them. Here's an interesting and informative article on it.
