What makes one qualify to be an official lifeskills teacher?
I only helped out in a class... So I did not need any special qualifications or anything...
Which high school are you teaching at? It would be funny if I knew anyone you do! That's a rare thing though... anyhoo, I was at Lord Byng with a class there.
Yes, I worked in Barbs class! (her first year was my last)
Yes, I did go to school at Lord Byng. I noticed homophobia, yeah, but I was kinda goth-y and loved the negative attention. But of course I did want to make it positive, then a gay teacher and I started up the Gay-Straight alliance and it was great... for a year. After he left the school it just sucked, and I gave up without him, so... But for a couple of years, I noticed in my grade only, that the more public my group of friends were about sexuality, the more people thought it was cool. I mean "all the bad kids were doing it" hehe! Nawh, I wasn't bad, but everyone just thought I was. And I was pretty dyke-y. But then in my last year at the school anything positive that had been made with tho GSA all went away. So any good thing that came from from it only really lasted two years. Poor kids. I hear though that Kits and Point Grey are 100 times worse. But the east side schools probably kick all our butts. Anyhoo, I was fine with homophobia at school because I didn't have to worry about it at home. So I'd just get really mad at kids when they said "that's so gay" and flaunt my gay-ness. I really did flaunt too, it's kind of embarrassing to look back on!
I am thinking... there seems to be a big chance that you were at byng when I was for some year or so. Hmm...
