This weeks blog homework from @missy and @rambo is all about how you spread holiday cheer, Now i'm a pretty big fan of Christmas. I enjoy the times spent with family seeing people we don't necessarily see on a regular basis. Plus myself - Having two little girls gets to have far too much fun pretending Santa exists and getting them all riled up for the holidays.
I recently had a talk with my eldest little lady about Santa and how he keeps track of all the kids, what they want, how old they are, and how to find them. Shes getting older now, and its not going to be long before i cant pull the curtain over her eyes and pretend a giant fat man comes and eats the cookies she lays out, When in reality mommies nom hard on some Baked goods while the kids are sleeping :P
We continued our talk and i explained to her how everyone in the world has these number attached to them, and these numbers give Santa the information he needs to be able to know when someone is too old, and an adult now or if they've been naughty or nice. (essentially telling her that our social security numbers are Santa's oldest trick in the book for keeping tabs on little kids)
(Little me... Clearly i also had my suspicions about Santa)
At the end of the conversation i believed i had fully convinced her that Santa was indeed real for another year, Which to me keeps her as my little girl... But i'd like to think it keeps her innocence, and to a kid the fact that in all realness Santa does make Christmas that much more fun for a child sometimes.
Sometimes Life gets hard too, And we cant always have the "best" christmas we want, or things don't go according to plan. I remember a few years back my Guy and i lived in a smaller space that just didn't have room for a tree, and we were really having a hard time with having any holiday spirit at all. So i took it upon myself to go to the store and get some basic tree decorations and some tape, and i made us a tree against the wall. I wanted something i could put my presents under.. I wanted something to decorate to help lift our spirits from a crummy year.
I remember after i made it, my guy was so proud with me and happy with our tree. It really was the most perfect tree i've ever made :D
I think the best way to Spread holiday cheer is just to keep in mind whats important. Family, and love and kindness.
Sometimes the best thing to do is to do something for someone else, whether its a gift or a story. Making someone happy... its a wonderful feeling.
I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday. <3
