I think people were mad at the soldiers because we're supposed to back them; they're sanctioned officials of our country... a lot like cops on an international scale. They wear our flag on their uniform. Personally, it makes me edgy to see anyone, in any prison anywhere, get abused.
But no, lying naked on a guy while some dodo takes snapshots is not as bad as getting your head cut off.
Those guys were bandits, terrorists, murderers... whatever you wanna call them, what they did was murder... but it's important to remember, they aren't representing average Iraqis, any more than nutso Americans represent us.
I don't like to even think about Iraq, either. I'd rather kick back with turkeyburger and PBR, too.
bro...one day we are gonna have to bb-q and drink...maybe when i get back we can organize a sgva bb-q. i'll bring the veggieburgers!!!
now about the whole iraq thing...you know how i think, how i a major minority being a peacenik vegan in the military. i personally thought that the prison shit was fucked up. i also thought that the beheading was fucked up (so much so, that i couldn't even watch it)...in fact, i think the entire fucking war is fucked up, and i don't want any part of it.
it scares me to think of what the future will hold for us...
i wouldn't call myself one if i wasn't one. i disagreed (not very vocally, i admit) with the war since it started, it just wasn't right to me...
and i get that this guy was one of us...and i had two questions...1. what the fuck did we do to get this guy in so much trouble that they cut his fucking head off. i doubt that whole thing was in response to the prison shit, although...i don't know. i guess i don't have that thing that you would have to have in yourself to do something to another person like that. 2. why the fuck are we not hunting this motherfucker down like saddam? i mean, release the fucking hounds...they're cutting heads off now...time to take the gloves off.
that is way too much thinking before coffee...sorry to lay all that on you.
have a good day!!!
yeah...i will agree with you that we don't know shit...because the media does not care about the truth. most media has a definate bias...and i should know for sure having only the stars and stripes to read, and afn to watch on tv. i don't know what you guys get to see in the states...but i am guessing that collectively, the public gets about 10% truth, 90% biased opinion (unless you happen to know someone who is directly involved). so i tend to take everything with a grain of salt (or sand...i cant remember).
it's kinda like believing in god. believe whatever you want...no one on earth has ever really seen god, or listened to god speak, or played poker with him...or anything. everything is taken on faith, that the people who are teaching you have the right idea. so is it better to live on blind faith that everything you hear or read is correct? or to question everything, and understand that because you didn't experience it personally, you can never know what actually happened (unless a videotape surfaces).
by the way, who keeps their tax forms in their toolshed anyway?
i hope at least some of my rambling is coherant...
cheers mate!!!
yeah, i think it's best to say..."i don't know what the fuck happened...i'm not sure i want to know, but the one thing i do know is that it is really evily fucked up."
