The sadness does suck, and I can sympathise, I have a brother in the airforce and a niece in the army. Try to stay optimistic. Im sure you will see your friends again.
The thing that gets me the most is that all these people are dieing for no reason. Where is osama? Why did we just say fuck it and move straight to Iraq? Yeah rhetoric... horrible dictator blah blah blah. Bringing democracy... okay whatever. For those that didn't know, Iraq once had a democratic government until we helped destroy it and put Sadam in place to be our buddy. Then he decided he didn't want to play ball anymore and he is now a horrible dictator. Know what kids? There are many worse horrible dictators in the world... why do we not do anything about THEM? No weapons, no link to alqueda(or wtf ever its spelled). NO REASON TO DIE THERE. Bring them home if ya care about em... that just makes me so angry. First I get sad, then I think about all that shit and just get angry to the point I can barely think.

yeah yeah i know nobody knows me but i'm a marine. i haven't been to iraq yet, but only because 1. i dislocated my hip before the first deployment. 2. i rolled a humvee just before the second deployment.
but i didn't join the military so that i could go to college for free. i joined so that i could do something to protect the freedoms that 9/10 of this country takes for granted.
i have a 2 year old son that i love very much, and i am willing to do anything for him. and if that means i have to go to iraq and live like shit for a year to prevent something that might not ever happen, guess what. still completely worth it. a lot of people think we are over there for no reason. i think that if i am making any sort of stand at all for my sons future freedom and lifestyle then it is completely worth it no matter what the costs are to me or anybody else.
