Well outdoor pools are the next best thing, there used to be one public outdoor pool I knew of in the whole country but it closed a couple of years ago. Go to the ocean and swim while you have the heat! The pear and earl grey loaf recipe -

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Pear and Earl Grey Loaf

Ingredients
150g dried pears roughly chopped and soaked overnight in 120ml strong cold Earl Grey tea, 120g butter, 120g soft dark brown sugar, 2 eggs, 150g SR flour, tsp baking powder, Pinch of salt, tsp ground ginger

Method

Heat the oven to GM4/180'C/350'F. Grease and line a 1lb-loaf tin.
Cream together the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy and beat in the eggs.
Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and ground ginger. Fold into the cake mixture. Mix in the pears and the cold tea and turn into the loaf tin.
Bake for 45 minutes. If necessary, cover with foil to prevent the crust from browning too much. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes and then turn on to a wire rack to cool completely.
Ice with a ginger water icing. (100g icing sugar, 50ml boiling water and 50g of finely sliced stem ginger in syrup with some of the syrup mixed in)

It's really good! Make sure you make the tea really strong so you can taste it. The chocolate one I tried was ok - http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=610506 but I want to try a few different ones or adapt it a little bit so once I get the perfect one I'll share it with you!

I'm in LA. I love SD. I have never been to Argentina but it does sound tempting. I'm going through major changes as well...I just left my home of 12 years and moved down here. Do you have your honeymoon date yet? Just need to decide where to go?
inga:
I moved from Humboldt County. I do like LA. There is every different type of person that you could imagine here. I love warm nights, the ocean, the plethora of bands at little venues everywhere. Have you considered Bali? It seems quite gorgeous and I know that it's a really cheap vacation. You so close to Mexico right now!
inga:
Spain would be fantastic!! My friend just got back and loved every minute of it. Humboldt is unbelievably beautiful! But people-wise it's stagnate. All this talk is giving me the travel bug!!! In my fortune cookie from last nights dinner my fortune said " Pack your bags! you are off to an exciting destination!" then again I'm am trying to find another place to live in LA...so who knows what it meant. whatever

"thnk positive thoughts, avoid drama".....I like that, sounds like a mantra that should be posted on our walls. Don't they post something like that on the walls at the House of Blues?

Glad to hear that Henry didn't need to be neutered again! biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin I'll bet HE is happier! tongue
quietlythere:
Is everything ok??? If you need to talk you know how to reach me.
wadewalker:

Buzz should like her. I mean, Buzz liked me.

Be good. smile Positive things are what the effort should be on; there's nothing wrong with putting yourself first from time to time. You should.
opticnerve:
Ah, Rin, you are a Canadian treasure of the Stompin' Tom Connors level. I have come to realize that being morose and cynical looks cool on 'Seinfeld', but it gets you nowhere in real life. Happy thoughts make a big difference.

Isn't swimming the best thing invented? I love doing lengths, and usually do about 6 to 8 miles a week. You should look into getting a membership at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre when you move back to Vancouver (jealous).
fancyd:
Outdoor pools are the diggity, I love to swim.

♥ Life is too short for me let myself be surrounded by drama and by people who don't really care. There is beauty in everything all around me and it is time to concentrate on that. To concentrate on making myself a better person than I was before and to be good to those around me.

Yup, in a nutshell, is there any other point? ( I realize I am the second person to quote you, but it really is that good.

Hehe, I painted my toenails red for the first tim ein years this past weekend. It makes me feel girly and good like. biggrin

"It was just good to be in the water and moving my body."
i walk a lot and this is how i feel as well
i heard something recently where someone said "we don't have a body, we are a body"
i like this idea very much - i think we can get too caught up in our minds at the expense of paying attention to our total perceptual experience - warmth of sun, coolness of breeze etc
nuit:
well at least you can be happy in knowing that winter will be here soon enough, and as awesome as summers in alberta are, winter is soooo very long
vive l'adventure!
nick07:
i have had a similar experience
it's become second nature now to be alert to, and attentive to, the needs of the body
for sleep, exercise, nutritious food and i feel so much more 'vital' as a result
i made up a saying - a body is like a dog it wants to be exercised smile
btw great lake swimmers and okkervil river are a couple longtime favourites
take care kiss
norritt:
i see you have a great love for cute if you knew what my portmanteau meant

you paint some pretty images with your words

thank you for your kind words on my drawings i appreciate it a lot really smile
sitandspin:
Well, it's nice to be pseudo-back.

You have to concentrate on the positive when things are going badly. But hopefully things aren't going seriously bad in your world, or else I will come over there and beat up your world for hurting your feelings.

My new shoes are 100$ loafers. I'm using them tomorrow for my first day of class, but they kill my feet.
vidalia:
Isn't it wonderful when your eyes work okay without all their gear on? I love it. It sounds lovely there.
katieesq:
I fucking hate you.
katieesq:
So I googled "Fuck you Arinn" and did an image search, and this is what it gave me:

I think it sums up nicely what I'm trying to say. biggrin
