BTW, I did get around to watching the Joy Division documentary. And, you're right -- much better than 24 Hour Party People. TY for the recommendation. *god i love netflix*
it really is! though it flies too quickly sometimes-- and next thing i know, i've done nothing i meant to do. like cleaning. the beginning of your post made me look around the room with shame!
You make a good point...One that I knew someone was going to point out after I read that back. But I still stand by what I said, more or less. I suppose my little rant was geared more towards the issue of illegal immigrants coming in from the south more than anything (Which is usually the big topic at all those rallies). The way I'm looking at it is this...If you are trying to become a citizen in this country, or trying to get your family, friends, or countrymen to become citizens, wouldn't it be better to show support for this country? To show love for it? I get that they are Mexicans; that they are proud of it, but when I see that sea of flags, the first thing that pops into my head is "If you loved that country so much, maybe you should go back."
I have Mexican blood in me, and I have European blood in me. I'm proud of my heritage, but I am, first and foremost, an American. I am an American who just happens to be of other things. When I see these people identifying with Mexico, as Mexicans who happen to be American (Or are trying to gain American rights), it just strikes a nerve with me. Like they are just using this country rather than being of it. It just bugs me
I am not sure how much of an honor it is. I forgot to add the last line that I just added, you might want to read that one. Ha! Thanks for your input mate!
Did you get my message?
