As for your friend...
I uesd to have a friend practically identical to yours. She stayed in abusive relationships until the "abuser" ended the relationship. She would threaten suicide until another jackass would come along.
She added a lot more drama in my life than I could handle. No matter how much I tried to help her, encourage her to find herself a better boyfriend or just to be on her own for awhile.... she would listen but it'd go in one ear and out the other.
This went on for years until I finally gave up on being her friend (for other reaons as well) because she was just going to continue this self destructive path and I wasn't going to be a part of it, I couldn't handle the drama anymore. frown frown

That sucks about your friend, do you know her family? Maybe you could get her big brother to kick the shit out of him or something? I hate dick head boys who beat up on girls. But seriously, I hate girls who let dick headed boys beat them up just as much. She needs to go and go now, it will not get better, it will get worse. Talk to her family, anything to get her to get the hell out of there.

Wow, your friend has a big problem, but it's a really hard one to get people to recognize. I used to run across abusive people in my old job, and they never seem to change. Read this page and see if it has any helpful info for you or her.

Yikes. I know exactly how you feel about your friend. I have a good friend in the same situation. I'm trying to figure out how to handle social situation when this guy is around and I am NOT happy about it.
