its common knowledge that women who spend much time together quickly start "cycling" together. additionally, my education has told me that the reason for this is an evolutionary reproductive advantage - where a woman's cycle will actually start shortening to be fertile faster before the other woman....this tidbit of knowledge led me to believe that women are on the most primitive animal level competative by nature (a source of cattiness) and find it nearly impossible to have genuinely close female friends. recently though, a bunch of female friends have vehemently argued this point. i can't refute the fact that women have authentic, genuine same sex friends because i see it happen in real life, but...?

but it's not like everyone's out to stab each other in the back for a possible mate. not everyone's out to look for love or be a breeder. what, then, in the case of lesbians? how would this behavior modify when you're fishing from the same pool of competitors and prospects?
