although we have a more or less "general practice" I primarily do family law [divorce, custody, support etc. ] and criminal defense. Coincidentally, the same two areas I thought I'd have no interest in when I first applied to law school.
Yes I was a fan of the Smurfs as a kid. My kids had only recently gotten into them when the wife rented some of the old episodes. As movies go in the adult world you can wait till it comes out on cable and let it be a guilty pleasure and not waste the 10 bucks. The girls loved it and I was pleasantly surprised. As for work, yes it is cranking busy with golf outings and school fundraising dinners and what not. Good luck on the new gig. It sucks to get broken in on it happened to us a couple years ago.
actually I like my criminal cases (and clients) far better than my divorce clients.
Defense work is fairly misunderstood and misportrayed in popular culture. It's less about finding "loopholes" and getting the guilty "off" and more about making sure the State can meet it's burden and if so, minimizing the damages.
