Last was probably one of the coolest nights of my life, or at least in the top ten.
But let me back up and add a little background noise, about two month ago my baby of a car, my wrx bit the dust. So after two months of my "friend" saying he's fix it, he took his car back that I had been driving and decided that he had lost motivation on my build. Thanks a lot. So now I have a rolling chassis of my wrx and a half taken apart motor.
Thankfully my dad is a car collector in the sense of him buying anything and everything that looks cool or a fun project, which then turns promptly into a lawn ornament. So after accidentally letting it slip that our 79 Corvette was register, insured and ready for the road, he forked over the keys.
Last night he calls me and says let go up the Lebanon Valley Drag way in New York, he wants to put the Vet on the track, oh and yeah, I get to drive. It was like the being the new kid in school, I was so nervous. The whole drive up I was almost begging for something to go wrong, just so I wouldn't have to drive; understand that I hate being out of my comfort zone. Which of course added to my reasoning that I HAD to go through with it.
Needless to say that after my first run down the track, I felt like a pro and I got in the motion of lining up, waiting and then hauling ass down the track. But man was it amazing how long 16 seconds went by when I was shifting gears, it felt like it had taken me minutes not seconds. Unfortunately I didn't win any of my races, I was up against some pretty supped up cars but now I can cross this off my bucket list, but like tattoos I'm hooked and now am just waiting for Wednesday night to hurry up and get here to go again.
