sweetbutch:

there is nothing close to a 50-50 chance

most kids of drunks do not become drunks themselves

believe me i have read up on this, considered an expert

you're a good influence right?

and if you were up to the fight -- his being arrested for drunk driving with children could be ground for changing the conditions of his visits

sounds awful

poor boo. i think you and kids should get in one big bed and sleep him off

lizfitts:
oh geez. So sorry that happened. I hate drunk drivers... know too many here. A friend just got a felony DUI.... going the rehab route now. And another friend uses her truck as her personal bar. WHY? I guess because they're alkies. Me.... well, you know I don't drive.
But that's really lame, P. I hope the situation doesn't escalate.
Hugs to you. And a kick in the shins to your ex.
ferkixlll:
As mentioned Drunk Driving with Kids in car is
'Child Endangerment' in many states.
Bite the bullet and get a Lawyer to have the Visitation rules
changed, ESPECIALLY as this is a 2nd offence.
I'm surprised that he's got his licence back so soon from the
last time.
Hugs and Best Wishes to you All.
A better Turkey Day.
tunnel_vision:
Report him to cps and any other agency that oversees such issues.

*hugs*
eisenheim:
im sorry, pandera!!! if you need anything, you know how to find me
pheme:
I'm sorry sweetie. I'm pretty sure NYS just passed a law or is passing a law that makes drunk driving with children in the car a felony.

I so understand what you're going through.
I'm sending you a hug
hellstorm:
1. document all contacts you have with the police and other authorities.

2. as the kids start to get older, have that talk with them about responsibility. what is responsible drinking, stuff like that.

3. he ever is drunk around the children and wants to take them anywhere, call the cops. my dad a few times showed up drunk, my mom refused to let us go see him. he argued at times, she called the police who took him away (due to his drunkedness). and it was documented why he could not see us.

good luck...its a tough situation to be in. talk to Child Protective Services of the state you live in, they might have information. the hotline number should be in the phone book, and they will answer questions for you.
aldremech:
What kind of sorry fucker would endanger his own children like that? mad That is something I would address to the courts immediately. CPS is woefully ineffective in most instances, but if you file an emergency hearing over the matter, the court can strip him of his parental rights, and the state might bring charges of felony child endangerment or child abuse on top of everything else.
