Congratulations on "Pimp Me" finally going live.

Rergarding your newest blog entry : I am 32 and got my first small tattoo when I was 18. (i have five more now- much bigger) You are right they do fade; it is a natural process but wearing sunscreen and taking care of your skin will help - and most reputatable tattoo artists will touch up the color for free or very cheaply. They are artists and want their work to look good too. Also- an all black tattoo is an option; I have one large piece all in black and it is my favorite. Black fades also-- but, in my expeirence, more slowly.

As far as your evolving identity and your tattoos-- i see my own ink as a kind of archeology of my life - my only male lover designed my first small tattoo - and though I have been in a relationship with my female partner now for 13 years - it was an important part of my development. it is also a butterfly-- which is rather overdone now, I think, but for me, at the time is was a huge step away from my very conservative catholic upbringing.

I like how my ink evolves as I do - it marks my life on my body. our livesare already marked on our bodies- not by choice- scars etc.. and i see tattoos as a powerful symbol of choice as related to the body. And, of course, if you really end up hating soemthing in the future you can always get it covered up or transformed into something different or even get it removed nowadays.
