this album - Wee Tam, along with Big Huge and "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" catch a remarkable, light, prescient, wise impulse that blossomed and faded from (public) sight all too soon.... as one who lived through those days in a commune and also the Chicago Democratic Convention, guns on campus at Cornell - the light was so very much brighter and the response to irresponsible downright crazy and evil government was considerably better organized. I don't think it did much to really altar the course of things--but it did provide a refuge and probably influenced individuals--in fact I know it did--the folk that are now working hard to counter our destruction of the environment, who are trying to save education from drowning in poverty and religious politics--these people certainly have been nourished by the tomfoolery and random beauty expressed by The Incredible String Band and their ilk...
