Some bands just lose their appeal. As they try to sell more records, they compromise artistic integrity with marketing approaches. This practice seldom works; you have to have a quality product in the first place with natural mass-appeal ie. the Beatles. That band was successful because they pushed the creative envelope yet remained appealing to nearly every demographic. That being said, most bands are in their element playing to smaller, concentrated audiences.

The moral of the story:

Some bands are better off breaking up, disbanding, or commiting suicide than becoming a pardoy of themselves.

I like lots of defunct bands myself.

I like most things Swedish! In fact, many of my family's closest friends are Swedes. I will check Refused out, at least. I really don't dislike much if it's made with love. Or hate. Or the blood of innocents.
