you tea steeping technique reminds me of a childhood friends backyard. She had an orange tree and jasmine growing near, the smell was divine. Orange blossom and Jasmine has been my favorite scent combination since. Your tea sounds delicious, I will have to try it that way.
Have you ever read Tom Robbins "Jitterbug Perfume"? The same scents play a significant role in that book. If you have not read it, do so! So, rather than easing yourself back into western lit, you can throw yourself head first right into the flaming barbeque that is Tom Robbins.
Another HIGHLY recommended title: "Gifts of Unknown Things" by Lyall Watson. It's beautiful. You would likely have to special order it though.
Gifts of unknown Things
Publisher: Inner Traditions Intl Ltd; ; (January 1992)
ISBN: 0892813539
It is still in print. Bowkers BIP is notoriously unreliable. Who do you order from?
I have read most of his books. I absolutely love Lyall Watson. He is a genius; speaks like nine languages, traveled the world, multiple degrees in science etc. His books span one of the widest ranges of subject matter I have ever seen; from the history of the nose the the roots of evil to the supernatural (actually the supernatural is an underlying theme in most of his work.) "Gifts of Unknown Things" is probably his most accessable reading. It is his amazing true account of the year he spent living with a tribe on a remote Island in Indonesia. "Dreams of Dragons" and "The Nature of Things: The Secret Life of Inanimate Objects" are two of my favorites, as well. I'm not familiar with the history of wind book, It sounds wonderful.
