Pets are such a blessing but when it comes time to say goodbye... that never gets easier. I've had my sweet girl Deanna for 16 years. My literal dumpster cat. A friend and I found her and her siblings in a box in a dumpster behind the cat rescue where we volunteered. They were only a week old, their eyes weren't even open yet. She's been with me ever since. Through 6 homes in 3 different states (NY, CA, UT). She's been with me longer than any single human being. We said goodbye to Deanna on Friday and I am a big sad mess.
