Weird week. Weirdest I've had in quite a while.
Here's the breakdown, then I'll give the End Result thus far.
On Monday a Washington State Patrol officer came to my house (and as it turned out another was simultaneously at my work asking for me). My wife opened the door and he did the whole "Is your husband here?" which was met with a sort of 'what did you do?' attitude when she pulled me from the kitchen. I went to the door and the officer told me that my Uncle was trying to contact me from Ohio and that my dad is in the hospital in critical condition.
(*Note: I haven't spoken with my dad or his side of my family since I was 10...13 years ago)
I called the number and spoke with my uncle who I barely know. He gave me my dads condition, which is serious but after surgery not much to worry about. Then I was told by the hospital that since I am the next of kin, I, my two brothers, and my older sister, have power of attorney over my father until he regains consciousness. I have rights over the life of a man who never cared about me and who I don't know very well.
My question, Older Who?
End result:
So i found out I have a sister that is 9 years older than I am, that I've never met, but who lives in the same state as I do only four hours away. And now I have her phone number written on a piece of paper, which I had to call and come up with a plan of what to do if a hard decision needs to be made.
Turns out my sister is a nice woman, and I will enjoy meeting her. I just hope she doesn't hate me.

Madness, I wish you the best. This is why we should know about her siblings, if I had someone lost in the mix, I'm pretty sure I would've creeped on them by now on accident :X. (I'm sure you're fine though )
