Today I went to donate blood. This is something that I do as often as possible. Usually I just do it when the BloodMobile comes to the office, but this week I got one of those "our supplies are really low, we need donations now" messages. I scheduled appointments for Josh and myself for today at 12:30.
We got there, singed in, and I was hooked up and donating when things went wrong. The girl taking my blood today was very, very new at this. She decided to try to move my tube and took the tape off for a sec. Well, I had a pressure cuff on my arm, to keep the blood flowing, and the pressure caused the needle to shoot out of my arm. Immediately following the needle was a deluge of blood...a blood bath of sorts. My entire forearm was covered in blood that ran off in a continual sheet like a waterfall onto the floor. It was quite a sight and I was a bit shocked. I do have a high pain tolerance and blood and needles definitely don't bother me so I'm sure that helped. Josh, on the other hand, saw all of this from the next chair over. I saw his face and I swear he almost passed out or vomited or both. He barely kept it together, but somehow managed to finishing donating. The poor girl who was handling me ended up freaking out a bit and taking off to the back room...she never did come back out.

So yeah, that's what I did today.
