I lauaghed when I read about the male belly dancer getting dollar bills shoved in his clothes. Did these ladies think they were at Chippendales or something. I have never had Moroccan food, but I'm always up for trying new things.

I went to a party once for one of the psychiatrists I worked for. They had male and female dancers who had those of of us brave enough to join in. It was lots of fun!
When I was 14, my parents and friends went to a Moroccan restaurant to celebrate Confirmation. Looking back, it was flattering to have the belly dancer pay attention to me the most of all the guys there. As for the male dancer being given money, hell, even artists appreciate a tip now and then.
I can't say I've heard of a male belly dancer before this, but I have heard of the money / tipping thing happening before and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I believe tipping is appropriate, but it shouldn't be done in one dollar increments. Maybe one large bill per visit to the table? It certainly sounds like you had fun and I have added going to a Morracan restaurant with belly dancers to my list of things that I need to do, eventually. I hope work isn't too rough today.
