I had such a great fucking weekend.I worked a bunch, but I drank a bunch, and ate a bunch, and slept a bunch too. The weather was amazing, everyone was being strangely and awesomely nice to me and to one another. There was magic in the air, I tell you.
When I was working, I got one of the best compliments I've ever received. A little girl, probably 7 or 8 years old, came up to me and said, "Excuse me, you're really pretty!" I DIED. I'm not even a kid person, but it made me melt. It's nice to know that little girls look at weirdos with half shaved heads and tattoos and think "I wanna be like that when I grow up." Aww.
Runners up for best compliment:
1) I was talking about seeing famous people in real life with a former coworker. He said he saw Chloe Sevigny walking down the street when he was in NYC and wasn't sure who she was but he could tell she was someone by the way she carried herself. He was like, "You have that same swagger. Like you're always walking down the runway." Likening me to the illustrious Ms. Sevigny? Am. Not. Worthy.
2) This isn't really specific, but it pleases me immensely when El_Scootro says that he likes whatever art I'm working on. He knows his shit, and I know he wouldn't bullshit me either.
3) My friend was introducing me to his girlfriend and said, "There are very few people who can't be anything but themselves, and Monroe is one of them"
4) Someone left a comment on my first set that said, "Small tits are just more rock n roll".
So. What's the nicest thing anyone has said to you?
Annnyway, we play this song at my work and it's been a guilty pleasure of mine for a while:
"I got beauty, I got class
I got style, and I got ass
And you don't even care to care
I got beauty, I got heart
Keep my head in them books, I'm sharp
But you don't care to know I'm smart"
Sing it, Honey B! Loves it.
And came then the video:
OMG. Everything is so on point! The styling...ooof. I need every single item she wears! I feel like if I was a housewife this is a lot what it would be like. Speaking of such things, I made a delicious feast last night:
Jerk "chicken" (aka Delight soy chunks) with pineapple and black beans, served over brown rice. I adapted it from a recipe in a Rachael Ray (ughhh, I know) magazine my mom had. It was divine!
"Ugh, are you seriously taking pictures of yourself, mom?"
Haha!
Luvubye.
