Hee hee, now I'm going to have the old Paul and Al skit "Are you Going to Sah-bow-wow Beach" in my head all day! At least I'll have something to smile about.
I prefer town beach but I tend to oversleep and not be able to find parking, so yeah I go to Scaroborough pretty frequently. I went to uri, so I have enough good memories to help me block out all the guidos!
I have noticed that the older I get, the more likely I am to go to Wheeler on busy days instead of dealing with the crowds at the "cool" beaches.
I'm not on London today, I generally only do one day a week there and was on on Tues, which I'm grateful for because that bus blew up in the street adjacent to my office, and is on the route that I take to walk in and happened at the time I'd have been walking it! Scary.
Things seem to have calmed down a bit now, I think it was handled really well and there isn't nearly as much panic as there might have been. My friends are all fine - we couldn't account for a few of them until about an hour ago, but now everyone's checked in.
I think that given the timing of the thing (rush hour on all the mainline routes and interchanges), we've got off fairly lightly when you think about what could have happened, although there are obviously still lots of fatalities not yet reported.
Let's hope this doesn't lead to even more racist foreign policies. If we got the fuck out of this imperialist notion of Western goodness, we wouldn't have to put up with this shit.
