I have a friend of mine that works as the resident body piercer (sp?) at a local Tatoo place. I'll ask him about your peircing dilema.
*** Ok update: He said if you have had the septum pierced under 2 months ago, that he doesn't think it's a good idea to take it out; however, you can put a special piece in your nose that is tubular in nature and folds up into the nose. That way you should be able to wear it during work.
He said to let me know if you need some local Atlanta tatoo places that sell those and I will get back with the names.
I have a "Monroe" beauty mark piercing and I put high grade fishing line through it while I'm at work so it doesnt show. They also make whats called a "retainer" which is clear jewelry so it doesnt show up either. My bet would be invest in clear thick fishing line just light one half of the line on fire and press it against a clean glass window so it forms a backing then use the other end to push through the hole snip the left over line off with some toenail clippers and your good to go. I hope my description makes sense. I do this all the time but I'm horrible at giving directions.
septum rings are easy to hide... just get a small pincher ring, and when you go to work, you can just flip it up into your nostrils and no one 'll be the wiser...
You can get a retainer with your initail piercing. it usually costs less $$ for a retainer too. it is shaped like a staple and flips up inside your nose so you can't see it. Let it heal all the way then change your jewelry out as you like when you go out. If I were sticking around much longer, I'd send ya one. But everything is already packed. sorry..
