Wow, 12 years! I just moved out of a 7 year situation and I'm expecting some sort of court appearance in my near future... We shall see. Shady landlords are the worst. I absolutely HAVE to move out of this new place asap, it's almost impossible to get a shower!

I did not realize that companies legally weren't allowed to have minimums on credit card purchases - that's a new one to me.
It's definitely a very good thing to be as familiar with the laws as you are - since it is where you live and having your landlord show it to random people just isn't right [and it's illegal too as you mentioned]. I had to look through some NJ laws for one of my classes this semester and was quite surprised to see that the laws were pretty straightforward and not too difficult to read - knowing your rights under NJ law is surprisingly easy and it's a shame that the majority of people probably don't know them.

my boss has that bogus minimum charge on credit cards at my store. makes me so mad. i don't run register much, but if i do, i don't enforce that crap.
good job with the landlord - no matter how cool they seem, they always try to fuck ya in the end. my current one has been a stupid bitch the entire time so i'm glad to be out of here. i hope the rest of your dealings with him are ok...
