I have my physical tomorrow. And it's seriously putting me in a not-so-great mood. Not because I'm really worried about the outcome (and it's effect on my life insurance/mortgage), I eat healthy and I get plenty of exercise (I don't own a car). But I've always been very conscious about my weight, and having to do this test just makes me feel even worse about it.

A little background info:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

My dad had a heart attack about 10 years ago, followed by a quadruple bypass. His brother had a heart attack, too, as did their father. My dad is also a diabetic, as was my maternal grandma. Most of my family is overweight. I have a good chance of becoming a diabetic, too, in time. Because of this, I've always been very aware of my weight, and the risks I'm running.

I currently weigh about 250 lbs. Though I usually weigh around 230. The extra 20 lbs I gained when I started my meds, there's not much I can do about that untill I fully ween off them. The lowest I weighed since my teens is about 210 lbs, a couple of years ago when I put myself on a crash diet of water, soup, saltines, and some vegetables and chicken breast for dinner, while working out 3 times a week. It took me a little over 6 months to get from 230 to 210, and I didn't lose any more weight for another 6 months. At that time, I kinda lost my motivation to diet. 20 lbs just wasn't worth all the effort I put into it.

Now before you think I'm a lazy fuck who eats nothing but junkfood, let me tell you a little something about myself. I don't drink. I don't smoke. I don't do drugs. Apart from my medication and the occasional asprin, you can pretty much label me as straight edge. I eat healthy 5-6 days a week (Saturday we traditionally eat sandwiches for dinner), I don't like fastfood. I don't have a car, I do everything by bike or on foot. The commute to and from work alone makes up for an hour of biking and walking a day (and I don't do slow). When I go on vacation, or spend a day in Amsterdam, it's not uncommon for me to walk 10 miles or more a day to see the sights. Up to 3 floors, I always take the stairs, down I take the stairs no matter what floor I'm on.
I only drink soda on the weekends (and usualy diet Coke), during the week I only drink water and tea (one lump of sugar per big mug, max 4 mugs a day). On average, I eat candy or junkfood once a week, if that. Usually it's less. I don't eat potatoes (fries maybe once a month), and only rarely eat pasta or rice. My average daily intake is
*1 cereal bar or similair for breakfast
*1 small sub (4") + soup or snack for lunch
*chicken and vegetables for dinner
*2-3 apples

If I read the calorie tables right, I take in less than the average male of my height needs.

And I'm still fat. Very, very fat.

I don't know. Having to do this test because of my weight makes me even more aware of it than I normally am. And it's wearing me down.

sounds like you're doing everything you can to be healthy...you're healthier than I am! your family history is definitely a concern, but there's nothing more you can possibly do. did your doc suggest anything? did he seem concerned about your weight? did you get results from the blood work?
