ok so I am diverting from my usual posts to talk about chess.
Yes you heard correct. Chess.
In my life lately there has been a lot of talk about people playing people as pawns and so forth. This got me to thinking about how the game of chess really is a metaphor for life.
I am not a huge chess player. I have had my share of games and had brought my opponents to end game but I never thought much of it until now.
The object of chess is to trap (checkmate) your opponent's king. Checkmate occurs when the king cannot escape capture on the next move.
AH HA!!! life. right there.
Aren't we all just trying to trap one another and get ahead?
I was also thinking about how the skills one uses while playing chess can be adapted into our lives.
In chess the outcome depends on each players individual decisions. Arguably, one can assume that chess teaches people to take responsibility for their actions as well as thinking about the consequences of these actions. I think this may be a valuable lesson for some. Take note my friends. Take note.
In chess sometimes you have a stalled game (zero-sum). In your life your "opponents" can bring you to this sometimes as well. It could be your closest friend talking circles around you or it could just be the weather raining everyday the weatherman says it's going to be sunny. Either way sometimes it is best just to pack it in and call it a day.
When faced with a complicated decision in chess when there is clearly no BEST move you must make a harmonious and advantageous move to help gain better perspective into your opponents tactics. Sometimes in life people just don't get this. Be peaceful and all shall come to you.
I would just like to say I am writing this as I have been played in a chess game of life recently and I needed to vent.
I am smarter than my opponents in this particular game, but I am playing "harmoniously."
Yes and if you haven't figured it out yet. Metta is pissed off. I am sick of chess. I want to play guitar hero!
