SO, recently I had surgery for the first time in my life and it wasn't major surgery but it was surgery none the same. I was scared shit less for weeks on end till the surgery date. I had to get my gall bladder removed and in the end it came with a complicated surgery no one expected. The whole thing started with having chest pains and thought i was having a heart attack and rushed to the hospital in a ambulance. When I got there they did test and turns out it was a stone in the bladder that was discovered in a ultrasound. So the ER gave me pain meds and a consultation with the surgery department which i went to just a few weeks ago.
When the appointment happened they were doing the surgery in 4 days. So those four days I was scared of what to expect. I never had surgery and didnt know if the anesthesia was going to effect me in ways I didn't know. Or if I would ever wake up, Its always a risk with surgery some people even on minor surgery's don't wake up for unknown reasons its rare but it happens and its a chance even if its a really small one. I have had my fair share of experiences but none shook me like this. A simple surgery to fix the pain brought me down to my knees in fear. The only other thing that could do that from my entire life was a woman, it was pretty rough.
Eventually the day of the surgery came and I was calm the entire time thinking to myself that things would be ok and it was just a easy fix. When the surgery happened they put me under and did it. I awoke to find things did not go as planned. It was a microscopical surgery only to come find out the bladder they removed I had been living with a inflamed one for years but only experienced the pain in the last couple months of it. They had to cut me open a good six inches at the top of my belly just to pull it out. So instead of just three little holes i had six of them. Three normally planned and two small ones for the new incision to guide them pulling the bladder out and the six inch one that was wide enough to get it out. The surgery that was supposed to only take a 1 hour took 3 1/3.
The recovery was actually very easy. The first couple days i was knocked up in bed most of the time and nothing but pain meds in me. By day four i was up and active again with no issues just minor pains that aspirin could fix easily through the day. But just the experience of going through all that and knowing what its like is rough. Just knowing other people have experienced this too but with worse life threatening surgery is rough on someone for not just the surgery but something they will have through their life. But in the end everything was as it should be and now im free of pain and doing well again. So thank you to all my doctors and hang in there for all that have family or friends going into surgery, or if you personally are going into surgery. Keep your head up high and think positive im pulling for you
