Today is mom's birthday. 
She turns 65. And in 8 short days, I have my birthday. I turn 33. *sigh* I can't believe I've survived another year. I'm grateful to whatever forces are watching over me. I'm glad to meet myself and glad to have understood myself a little better.
My birthday gift to myself? The enV phone and of course my SG submission set, when I get to shoot it. I can't wait to see what 33 brings. 3 was my number in high school sports... hopefully 33 will be a blessed year. I personally think it's going to be red-hot. In more ways than one. My hopeful year to go pink here, and with any luck, a few more feathers in my hat at work. A raise maybe? And who knows, a better position with the company. And with any real luck, a promotion that a. will help me make more money and b. get me out of Albuquerque.
I like it here, don't get me wrong, but I think the time has come in my life to uproot a bit and destabilize enough to get me out of this... rut I've been in for... far too long.

As for the rut: if you aren't satisfied with what you have, make the changes that need to be made to get satisfaction! Talk to the boss, or their boss, get an audience with the people that can help you make those changes. Of course, you might wanna get a plan together, so that they know you mean business. What I find works in these situations: show them how you're going to make more money for them, so there is justification for your increase in pay! At least thats what I did, and it worked for me! I got a raise PLUS bonuses, PLUS I got out from under the jurisdiction of a shitty MGR. (we're equals, and it BURNS him... especially now, since they REALLY like me because I took the initiative to step up my game and make them more money!)
