Right so I hope this does not end up sounding pretentious as shit :D
I'm sure if I thought about it long and hard I'd come up with other characters to replace these, or add to the list, but I wanted to go about it in a way where I'd pick the three characters which would come to mind first and suit well.
So the first would have to be:
Chandler, Friends
This one is probably the easiest to explain, simply because the character lives a relate-able life. I like to thing my sense of humour aligns with chandlers pretty much on every front, I go through a little lonely man crisis just like him every once in a while, but underneath it all there's a really nice guy who's as chandler would put it 'Hopeless, awkward and desperate for love' :D
The second character would be:
Jack Frost, The Guardians
Still somewhat easy to explain since he's technically human. This one goes down a slightly darker path, the whole questioning his existence, what his purpose is, just kind of giving up on external connections and trying to make due with what he alone has. Although again underneath it all there's a person looking for a reason, for acceptance and someone to 'share the loneliness with' (I know that phrase technically doesn't make sense)
The third and last character:
Simba, The Lion King
I hope this character needs no introduction :) It honestly couldn't have been any one else, I've identified with this character (like I'm sure so many others have) since I was 4 years old. This morally driven character who almost emotionally tortures himself because of something he believes he did wrong, this is where the pretentiousness comes in, Simba really is the pinnacle of innocent characters seeking retribution and just fighting for all that is good. I'm by no means a saint, and I probably couldn't nor wouldn't do the equivalent of what Simba did in our fucked up little world, but if there ever was character I felt close to or aspired to be like, it was this guy!
