Yeah, we went to the 12:30 PM show. It was a great way to kill time while we got some work done on one of the cars.
The movie was great, the only problem is, I want a Blu-ray of it to watch NOW. We have the DVDs of all but Half Blood Prince. There isn't much point buying any of them now. Might as well wait for the complete Blu-ray boxed set of 8 with all the bonus material. My guess is next Christmas for that goodie.
This seems like the perfect time to reread the book. Between movies.
coastal georgia is awesome, love savannah, st.simons. I went on a "hunt" on st.simons one time for these faces carved on different trees all over the island, it was fun
Oh yeah, the last one made me want to kill someone. I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't the book, and never would be. But it's so frustrating because they did such a good job with the first one, and now with the latest one it just shows that if they wanted to make it accurate, they could have.
True. I guess it goes to show that the last few movies should have been split into two parts so they could include more. Oh, and been directed by people who didn't take so many fucking liberties.
So the east coast will always be a part of you until you return one day? As for me, I dunno. My family moved around quite a bit during my growing up years.
Alaska, Japan, and Korea very early on, childhood in the midwest and Panama, most of my adult life based in Texas, a small amount in Mexico and the UK. Work takes me places. I used to feel that my roots were in the midwest but that feeling has started to subside over the last couple of years. I don't really fit the southern mode of thinking although I've been here more than anywhere. More than anything, I identify with being an American, a yank rather than of a particular place....if that doesn't sound too goofy. Where I hang my hat is not so important but if I were to pick a region that fits my sensibilities most, it would probably the northeast for various reasons.
Hey there. I'm hoping to write up a more full blog about the trip as soon as possible. Not sure what my favorite drop in is yet. Although Saba Rock Hotel was fun and Willy T's was fun in a different way. I'll have to give that some thought. All I know is I can't wait to go back.
When you're a kid you go where your parents go, right? At least you have lived in some beautiful and interesting places. The one thing I'm grateful for with the moving around is exposure to different cultures, the seeing and understanding of the sorts of conditions others live in. Like when I was 8-9 one of my after school play buddies was a sweet Panamanian kid (my age) who would meet me after he got off of work. He had a couple of jobs, actually. You kind of learn to stop griping early about the small stuff when you're around that.
Think I'd have liked growing up in one spot if I'd have grown up in one of the nice neighborhoods we lived in in Indianapolis. The school was great and it had a real Mayberry RFD sort of innocence about it but was progressive at the same time. Think I'd feel the same about certain areas of the Northeast, Northern California, and parts of the UK. It would have been great to grow up in a walking/biking city. Oh well.
No problem. brother. The Boilers are my third favorite Big Ten team. But yeah, my family has 50 yard line seats at the Big House. I've been a Wolverine longer than I've been a fan of anything.
You should join the college football group if you follow it. Probably my second favorite group on the site.
Had a good meal at my sister's.
We got some of the left-overs. Which
became a coconut curry and turkey stock
on Sat., with some left for hot turkey sandwhiches.
One of my chuckles is how 'new' so many
of the songs are in that Thread Saddly
that was about the best recording of it on
youtube.
Share and Enjoy.
How was your Thanksgiving? Hope you had a fantastic one and that you're getting the chance to enjoy a long weekend without having to deal with too many bargain crazed maniac shoppers somewhere
Ach, we have much in common - - at least with the 12 year old & trying to instill the "common" sense (?) that one should focus on the person they're talking to & not on their phone, iPod, etc. It appears you may be having more success than us.
As to the Hoodie, as I just explained to your fellow Sith follower, devith5044: Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering, suffering leads to the Dark Side. - Its apparently infectious, as I truly fear Darth Belichick. Our only hope is that the righteous purity of the Packers can make it through the playoffs to once again defeat the forces of darkness on the most public of stages.
In all seriousness, I respect the Krafts and the Patriot organization as a whole, including the Hoodie, but I do think he [Belichick] makes just the perfect bad guy. Plus, obviously Brady made some kind of deal with the infernal powers - no one can be that perfect . . .
You are a wise man, trying to keep up with the young ones is an effort in futility. I think my choice has already been made, I just don't want to admit it yet.
Hope you are well, brother~
So I couldn't help but notice the blog you posted prior to this one...I didn't know you'd been going through somewhat the same type of thing that we'd been dealing with this past year. Long term unemployment just BLOWS! How'd you finally find your new gig?
Yep, Flashmo started building rods as a hobby originally in about 1998, then started selling a few here and there via word of mouth. Last April he decided to go full-time with it since he'd been laid -off for three months by then already. He doesn't get as wound up about fly fishing as some of the "River runs through it" purists but is definitely crazy for it. If you get the chance, maybe you could pass along his site information to some of your Marin buddies...this is his website info
You still riding much? I had to give up my season early this year with the shoulder surgery and am reduced to living vicariously through others till next Spring now
I do not have that essential book. Never even heard of it.....must investigate.
Tried the pancakes. Nothing to write home about but not as awful as I thought they'd be either. But, you are right. Pancakes are so easy to make anyway, it is just the gimmick which is fun.
Hey, I have seen him around and his book has not only your testimonial but nearly 5 stars in ratings on Amazon. thanks for the recommendation. Will definitely have to order a copy soon. I just got a couple of books gifted to me which I am flipping through at the moment.
