I think Willem DeFoe as Ryuk may be the only good thing about the movie. From the looks of things, they changed too much to actually enjoy it. I'll probably still watch it but it won't truly be the Death Note I love. I'm actually rereading the Manga at the moment.
@mariajupiter Yes it is. People who have only seen the anime don't know the true ending which is only slightly different but a million times better. Spoiler to those who want or are in the process of reading it. I just love that Ryuk writes Light's name down in the Death Note in front of Light. And Matsuda's theory at the end of how Near could've written Mikami's name down in the Death Note and have him not test the fake before bringing it to the warehouse. Plus all the other things throughout the Manga that are different. It truly is the best version.
