You need minimum $50K to start your own business, and not have to worry about bills, etc. Maybe you could start doing it on the side, and save up. I think owning your own business would be great though, you'd get to be your own boss, etc. Good luck!

You could totally do it!

There was a period where that's all I did (as my own biz--photo restoration-retouching) and if you are really good, you can charge anywhere from $35-$75 per hour, depending on what's needed.......all you need is a computer with lots of Ram and a fast processor, a good monitor, a calibrator, and Photoshop......this could easily be pulled together for under $2500, or even less, if you are inventive, which I know you are! What's better is that you can write off all of these things as business expenses....including utitlities, rent, etc.

to SouthernBelle: i meant to start off on the side for now. i know i could never get a full business going, but i'm getting so burnt out with having to work crappy jobs to live, and knowing i could probaby make money off the stuff i do for fun. it would be awesome toeventually work up to that tho, but by that point i'd probably be doing a lot more than just photo restoration(i hope).

to _Opal_: well i have a pretty good computer, monitor and all that(just bougt my computer in May, and it was the 2nd best gateway model at the time) my monitor is good too, and i also have the latest version of photoshop heh.

this week i actually resored and edited some photos for a friend's client, and i'll find out tonight from him if i did good enough. i think i did. in fact i know i did good. aaand if i get permission i'll probably show everyone.

Yay! Good retouchers are hard to find.......so if this job goes well, it will probably lead to others through word of mouth. Hey! And you can work in your jammies...what's better than that? wheeeee!
